For the past 46 years, which comprises its entire history, the Lackawanna Coalition has met in the wood-paneled conference room known as the Committee Room at Millburn Town Hall, excepting only those months during the height of the covid-19 pandemic when we met by telephone using MaestroConference. Once again, the building is closed, this time for extensive renovations. Currently, the Coalition is meeting at the Summit Public Library, across the park from Summit Station. That means the schedules for the trains that members use to get to meetings will change slightly, at least for those taking the train.
Here are the trains that can get you to the meeting in time for the 6:45 p.m. start if they run on time: [1]
For riders from New York Penn Station, but not Newark, Train 6653 leaves New York Penn at 5:52 and arrives at Summit at 6:33. It makes intermediate stops only at Brick Church and South Orange, and not at Broad Street Station in Newark.
Train 337, which leaves Hoboken at 5:42, stops at Newark Broad Street and all local stops in Essex County, except Millburn and Short Hills (those stops are served by an earlier train).
If you are coming from Dover and Morris County points, the train to catch is No. 6666, which leaves Dover at 5:50 and is scheduled to arrive at Summit at 6:26.
The latest available train on the Gladstone Branch is 432, which leaves Gladstone at 4:53 and arrives at Summit at 5:40.
After the meeting, Train 434 leaves Summit at 8:56, runs express to Newark Broad Street, and terminates at Hoboken.
Train 674, which leaves Summit at 9:00, makes local Essex County stops on the way to Hoboken.
The first train to Penn Station is No. 6674, which leaves Summit at 9:15.
Outbound, Morris County riders can catch Train 6667, which leaves Summit at 8:55.
The next train, No. 6671, leaves at 9:42.
For Gladstone Branch riders, Train 447 is scheduled to leave Summit at 9:31.
If you are coming from another line, we suggest that you check with NJ Transit regarding your connections to the Morris & Essex Line to Summit. See the Railgram EXRA! for strike information, assuming that it is on.
