SEPTA had announced budget cuts if nothing was reached before January 2026. It appears that there will be budget cuts and eliminations on 5 regional rail lines (Trenton, Paoli Throndale, Cynwd, Chestnut Hill West, and Wilmington Newark lines) that run on Amtrak tracks and 50 bus routes, as well as ending service at 9:00 p.m., and people losing jobs in massive layoffs. This will be a disaster for us all, especially those who travel from NYC to Philly taking the NJT NEC line to Trenton and switching to the SEPTA Trenton line to Philly, as well as people who live and work in Delaware, and for those who take SEPTA to work on daily basis. No one wants to hear bad news; not everyone has a car, but this going to be bad—everyone needs to fight this. We can’t afford to lose transportation nor our jobs: we all have bills, utilities, and rent to pay; we need to go grocery shopping to put food in our stomachs; get to doctor’s appointments to check our well being; and other important things in life. SEPTA has said this before, and yes, it passed and money was found, but this is big! Hopefully everything will turn out well.
Governor Shapiro, you need to fight this as well. Save Pennsylvania and save SEPTA so everything can keep rolling and not getting shut down.
Delvan Bradford is an ally from Philadelphia, whom we met when he made a special trip from Philadelphia to an NJ Transit board meeting to express concern about biased, selective enforcement of standard policies on the RiverLine Light Rail.
