Trip Report: Connecting at Kingsland Station

My trip to the NJT board meeting last month was a bit different from usual; normally, I take a Pascack Valley train from either Woodcliff Lake or Essex Street, but this time I got to Essex Street a bit late, missing the Train 1632 at 4:48.  Fortunately, there was a 76 bus leaving at 5:12—but it gets to Newark at 6:17—too late for the 6 p.m. meeting start.  Even more fortunately, it stops right outside Kingsland Station—at 5:41 and makes a perfect connection to the 5:47 Main Line train 1124, which arrives at Secaucus just 7 minutes later.  From there, I could make a connection to the 6:00 p.m. Northeast Corridor train 3871, getting to Newark Penn Station at 6:10—late, but about 7 minutes ahead of the bus, which is also subject to traffic.   For most folks, the walk to headquarters is less than 5 minutes, but I am slow, so including check-in, it was about 6:30 when I got to the 9th floor, still within the public-comment period.
Once again, I reiterate the call by Lackawanna Coalition and the 40-some residents of Lyndhurst who came to the public hearings, and the almost-300 riders who use Kingsland Station daily, to keep open the home station of the conductor of the train to which I was able to connect—Save Kingsland Station!
